Efsli Summer School - Siena, Italy
Every year efsli organises two training programmes: one in summer and one in winter or spring. The aim of efsli schools is to bring together sign language interpreters from all over Europe interested in improving their professional skills.
Call for trainers: efsli Summer School 2010

INTRODUCTION
efsli Summer School 2010 is organised by the European Forum of Sign Language Interpreters in cooperation with the Siena School for Liberal Arts.
We are looking for trainers who will be involved in carrying out a professional training programme. For this purpose, efsli invites experienced trainers from the Sign Language interpreters community to share their expertise and work in a stimulating European environment.
VENUE AND DATES
Training will take place in Siena (Italy) from the 5th to the 10th of July 2010. Two sessions are planned according to the following tentative schedule:
The first part is aimed at beginners (interpreters with little experience of working in international settings):
Monday 5th July 2010 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm
Tuesday 6th July 2010 from 9:30am to 5:00pm
Wednesday 7th July 2010 from 9:30am to 5:00pm
The second part is aimed at interpreters who have experience of working in international settings:
Thursday 8th July 2010 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm
Friday 9th July 2010 from 9:30am to 5:00pm
Saturday 10th July 2010 from 9:30am to 5:00pm
Beginners can attend the first part only.
LANGUAGE
Training will be presented in International Sign.
Correspondence with efsli and official documents will be in English. No interpreting services will be provided.
TOPIC OF THE TRAINING
The topic of efsli Summer School 2010 is “Working in International Settings”. Training should cover the following aspects:
•Working with international interpreters teams
•Challenges in multilingual international conferences
•Third language interpreting and relay interpreting
•Interpreting in multilingual international settings: the Deaf consumers’ perspective
TRAINERS’ PROFILE:
We are looking for trainers who:
•have at least 5 years of experience in training Sign Language interpreters;
•have a very good knowledge of, and can work in both International Sign and written English;
•are able to work in an international training setting with participants of different languages and cultures;
•are skilled, knowledgeable, and have experience in the efsli school 2010 topic.
One trainer can apply by himself/herself or as a team (in partnership with other trainers).
DUTIES OF TRAINERS:
•to attend a preparatory meeting with the efsli representative and the organisers that will take place before the start of the training;
•to prepare the materials for participants (to be ready by May 24th, 2010);
•to train a class of 25 participants (max);
•to evaluate the training;
•to send an evaluation report by August 31st, 2010.
SUBMISSION OF TRAINING PROPOSALS
Training proposals should have both a theory and a practice focus.
Trainers should submit their training proposals in English indicating:
•a draft training programme focusing on the efsli school topic;
•a professional Curriculum Vitae;
•the professional fee requested.
Training proposals out of the training scope will be rejected without review.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
The selection will be carried out by the efsli Board and will be based on the criteria stated in the “Trainers’ profile” section. A comparison of professional fees may occur according to budget and market requirements.
GENERAL FINANCIAL CONDITIONS
Travel, board and lodging of the trainer/s will be covered for the full length of the training. Bookings can be made after approval by the Head of the Training Department. Any reimbursement will be made upon receipt of documentation.
A training fee will be paid as negotiated by trainer/s and efsli.
Payment will be made upon receipt of invoice within 30 days following the conclusion of the training and upon receipt of the evaluation report.
A detailed contract will be signed by both parties (trainer/s and efsli) as soon as the trainer/s has/have been selected and has/have agreed to provide the training (contract to be signed by March 31st, 2010).
IMPORTANT DEADLINES
•The deadline to submit training applications is March 1st , 2010.
•The selected trainer/s will be notified by March 15th, 2010.
•The final training programme materials must be delivered to efsli by May 24th , 2010.
